United Republic of Tanzania: Invitation To Experiential Learning Institute: Towards An African Ant- Corruption Approach

0
0
Country: United Republic of Tanzania
Organization: ActionAid
Registration deadline: 14 Sep 2018
Starting date: 17 Sep 2018
Ending date: 21 Sep 2018

Warm Greetings from MS TCDC,

The Experiential Learning Institute (ELI) is a new MS-TCDC initiative that will provide an enabling environment for:
• Networking and sharing experiences in a community of praxis
• Drawing and systematically distilling learning from existing experience
• Identifying suitable, sometime unique approaches to address the challenge at hand
• Analyzing contexts carefully to ensure the utility of solutions that emerge from these processes
Persuaded that the greatest value of experiential learning lies in its ability to establish lasting behavioral change, MS-TCDC is investing in a series of institutes using an experiential learning approach to better understand, and explore solutions, to some of the most obdurate challenges facing African Countries today.

Taking a fresh approach in combating corruption
The theft of public resources by elites and conspicuous consumption on the part of the beneficiaries of that theft is an issue about which ordinary Africans continue to seek effective ways of combating, almost 30 years since anti-corruption initiatives became central to the development agenda in Africa.

  • Despite modest gains, corruption still remains an issue of critical concern.
  • Corruption has variously been described as the being amongst the biggest obstacles holding African countries from realizing their potential
  • 2018 is the African Union's Year of Anti-Corruption.
  • Is it not time to explore African solutions for this challenge? The inaugural ELI seeks to address the challenge of combatting corruption in Africa. Taking due account of the dedication of 2018 as the African Anti-
Corruption Year on the theme “Winning the Fight against Corruption: A Sustainable Path to Africa’s Transformation”, MSTCDC is pleased to have the
African Union Advisory Board on Corruption (AUABC) as the collaborating partner with whom this ELI will be convened.

The Institute will aim to;
• Equip participants with practicable ideas they can employ in efforts to combat corruption
• Create opportunities for networking and cross learning between participants
• Attempt to define possible mutual support mechanisms that enhance solidarity between those combatting corruptions in Africa

We look forward to welcoming you to this particular Institute and others activities in the future.
